About Misty - Founder/Owner of M Dance & Fitness
Misty hails from the South (Memphis, TN) but her heart has been in NYC since her first visit at age 7. Misty has been in the dance and performing arts industry for over 30 years as a student, teacher and award-winning performer and choreographer. She has taught absolute beginner to competitive-level tap, ballet and jazz to ages 3 to adult, including teaching at Broadway Dance Center. With a mom who has run a dance studio for over 50 years and a father who was a composer, conductor and college professor of music and theater, it’s no surprise that Misty left the corporate world in 2010 to create M Dance & Fitness. She feels incredibly blessed that it has attracted a kind, fun-loving, positive and diverse group of students and incredibly talented, devoted instructors.

About her Classes
Misty teaches Zumba, Zumba Toning and Be Ballet Buff.

Misty encourages her students to engage every muscle in class, especially the arms and lower abdominals. Getting a cardio workout is a given, but with a little added focus and concentration, students can also realize significant strengthening and toning benefits. Each class finishes with an exercise designed to help students improve their posture and prevent lower back injuries. Her ultimate goal is for her students to stand up straighter and taller, and walk a little prouder!

Personal Trivia
Misty was so shy growing up that she virtually didn’t speak anywhere but in dance class. That’s why she is determined to keep MD&F a place where anyone can walk in the door, feel welcomed, let loose and have some fun!
About Diana
A Connecticut native with a passion for both music and dance, Diana has spent 20+ years studying tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop. She was captain of Boston College's (BC) Dance Team; a founding member of BC's Synergy Hip Hop Dance Company; and choreographer for BC Dance Team, BC Dance Organization and Synergy. Aerobics and Fitness Association of America • AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor & Personal Trainer • Certified Masala Bhangra Master Instructor

About her Classes
Diana teaches Zumba, Masala Bhangra, ABSolute Hip Hop, COREdio Dance Party and Rhythm Core. She also teaches Small Group Circuit Training.

Diana encourages her students to feel comfortable with their own style and fitness level (and to keep a sense of humor, above all else!). She also likes to mention fitness factoids throughout class so that students can learn to exercise more effectively. She is, after all, MD&F’s resident fitness guru.

Personal Trivia
Diana has lived in Spain, China and Japan. Despite extensive studies in Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese, she prefers the universal language of booty-shaking. :)
About Natasha
Natasha has been dancing since age 5. During her 7 years of study in the pre-professional program at Ballet Austin, she danced a variety of roles in their annual production of the Nutcracker. Natasha has 10+ years of performance experience in musical theater, including such notable shows as Cabaret, Grease and The Sound of Music. She has also studied hip hop and enjoyed many performances as part of the 6-member PMT Dance Company. Her teaching experience spans from Texas, at the University of Texas Athletic Center, to NYC, where she taught at PMT Dance Studio. Natasha is always looking for new ways to inspire herself and her students.

About her Classes
Natasha teaches Zumba, Zumba Toning and Afro-Indian Fusion.

It’s impossible not to enjoy yourself in Natasha’s class – she’s always smiling! She uses lots of "everyday" phrases to name steps in her choreography so it’s easily approachable for beginners and advanced students alike. One of her favorite steps is called "Paint the Fence." Now you’ll have to come to class to learn what it means!

Personal Trivia
Natasha plays guitar and writes music. Her life goal is to visit every continent. She’s made it to 4 so far and is going to #5, Africa, for her honeymoon. Any Star Wars fans out there? Natasha is a kindred spirit.

Personal Trivia
Colleen loves food like she loves Pilates, and enjoys being in the kitchen cooking up new recipes. She would love to one day mesh the 2, offering nutrition and exercise advice to anyone wanting a positive transformation. Who knows, maybe you'll get an "after-workout treat" if you come to her Pilates class....!
About Whitney
As the resident tap coach for Billy Elliot, Whitney took total tap novices and got them ready for Broadway in just eight (8) weeks. As a professional choreographer and actress, she has traveled across the country and around the world. Whitney has been professionally working since the age of 4, when she landed her first commercial (although she doesn't remember it.) Whitney has been dancing for 23 years. She is a member of the modern dance company Directions Dance Ensemble, performing in and around NYC.

About Her Classes
Whitney teaches Beginner Tap and Zumba.

Her classes emphasize form, function, and fun! In tap, you'll learn all the basics (shuffle, flap, dig, stomp, etc.) and before long, Whitney will have you doing double-pullbacks with ease. Don't worry if you don't know what that is, Whitney will teach you! (CPR/AED Certified.)

Personal Trivia
Whitney has two ankle joints on each foot! This anomaly came in handy when she was the quick-footed tap coach for the Broadway show Billy Elliot.
